2. The guesthouse at Kovestadbakken

Play audio

In 1777, Auen Nilsen Møysund was fined for having sold beer and liquor from his guesthouse at Kovestadbakken to passing travellers. He was granted the innkeepers privilege a year later. Traffic was greatly reduced when the new road bypassing Lahell was built in 1901. Apparently the guesthouse burned down, and a new house now stands on the same plot.

From this point it is 13.3km to Slemmestad, 1.1km to Gullaug, and 1.9km to Spikkestad brickworks which is the next stop towards Slemmestad. Enjoy the walk!
