Røykens old execution site at the top of Vangsåsen was placed by the main thoroughfare partly to deter others from committing crimes but also possibly for entertainment, as was the custom in those days! Anne Knudsdatter was beheaded here in 1739 for the murder of Ole Klemmetsrud. Her head was stuck on a stake and the rest of her body was tied to a horizontal wheel attached to a pole.
From here it is 6.7km to Slemmestad, 7.7km to Gullaug, 0.6km to The burial site at Syltingli which is the next stop towards Slemmestad and 0.5km to Vangskleiva, the next stop towards Gullaug. Enjoy the walk!
